We were delighted with the Hop On Hop Off tour because the driver offered fascinating information along the way, but we also had the opportunity to step off and spend an hour at the puffin cliffs and again at the volcano museum and crater. The driver told us the story of young puffins becoming disoriented by the town lights at night and being collected by children, put in a cardboard box and taken back to the cliffs the following day. Then he got a box off the bus - and there was a young puffin! The driver was also very kind to offer me the use of extra sunglasses as I had forgotten mine and it was a rare bright sunny day on Heimaey. All around, a wonderful experience!

This was an absolute top experience when visiting Heimæy. The driver/guide/owner (apologies, cannot remember your name) was top notch. Born and brought up on the island, passionate about the people and places he’s taking you too and able to give a fascinating local insight in to anything you may want to ask.

He has a booster seat for young ones to see out of the bus, too.

If you’re visiting for a few hours, or a few days, please do this tour. It’s a 1hr circuit but you can get off at various stops. We spent an hour at the puffins and an hour at the Eldheim Volcano museum.

He’ll also stop off at Elephant Rock for a quick snap across the golf course.

Cannot recommend this enough.

We had a great time on Vestmannaeyjar! The Hop On Hop Off tour was excellent and the guide was so knowledgeable - picking us up from right outside the ferry. He told us amazing stories from the island’s history - from his own family’s experiences. We saw so much - hiked to some incredible puffin nesting grounds, beaches, hills before hopping back on at the end of the day to head into town for fish and chips. Unforgettable and a highly recommended way to kick off your visit.

Windy, stormy day on the island. We opted to give the Hop On/Off a go in order to make it to the puffin grounds. The owner/operator was great. Excellent local knowledge and insights about the history of the island and the sights we were seeing. With the bad weather, it was just three of us on the bus at that point. He offered to wait for us at the Puffin lookout. We opted to stay for an hour and hike around a bit. He was on-time for our return and routed us through to the museum and gave us the recommendation of the 15 minute walk back to town through the lava fields. Great customer service and helped us enjoy the island much more than we would have just walking or renting a scooter.

Wonderful time jumping on and off the bus! The guide was amazing and gave us so much information and fun facts about the island. My 6 year old had such a fun time as well! Highly recommend as a way to explore the island!

Der Bus ist sehr zu empfehlen, um an ein oder zwei Tagen (24 Stunden) zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten zu gelangen, ganz besonders zum anderen Ende der Insel und zu den Papageientauchern. Man kann an den einzelnen Stationen aus-und später wieder einsteigen, bis 17 Uhr, der letzten Runde. Der Busfahrer ist zugleich Chef des kleinen Unternehmens, kennt und liebt seine Insel, gibt gute Informationen zu den einzelnen Stationen, zur Geschichte und Situation der Insel, beantwortet gerne Fragen und gibt gute Tipps. Die Papageientaucher, das Vulkanmuseum und seine Infos zur Insel und zum Vulkanismus waren die Highlights.

Excellent service! This is a great way to get around the island when you don't have a car, We had lovely summer weather so we decided to walk on our way back from the puffins lookout point, but we definitely missed the guide's interesting information about the island. He grew up there and he knew so many interesting facts!
