Hidden gem, no one else was there. All three caves are down a steep stairwell down a small ledge along a babbling brook. The lower cave is very muddy so beware going in if your not wearing water proof boots. The history is absolutely fascinating and it was free to park. Some settlement and potential pre-settlement stuff going on and a theory that these caves were initially dug by Irish Catholic monks to live a hermit life. Like all the hand made caves in southern Iceland over the years it found many other uses. There are the potential, not yet archeological surveyed, remains of a sod wall long house above the end of the lower cave which you can see clearly when you walk to the stairs going down. I really wish the land owner would leave a donation box because I'd love to see them be able to get a proper archeological dig there as well as a thank you for letting us stomp past their orchard through a horse pasture to the caves. There are carved runes in the caves, too, unfortunately I didn't have a strong enough flashlight to find them but when I return to Iceland I'm definitely going back here to check it out a bit longer.

3 minute walk from the parking lot. Take either the steep stairs or walk over the tunnel and around it; it’s a loop. 3 openings that I was able to find.

Nice to look around if you're in the area. Short walk from the parking lot and then a steep stairs down to get here.

Manmade caves of unknown origin. We found all three caves and were able to enter each one. Definitely a hidden gem.

The nature was beautiful and quiet. The caves were nothing to write home about. Be careful crossing the electric fence and decending the steep stairs.
