I loved seeing all the puffins! There is also a cafe & bathrooms available. Bathrooms stay open once the cafe is closed.

This is the best spot in Iceland for puffin watch! I strongly recommend, the drive is very much worth it when you get to see these little birds up close?

We saw hundreds of puffins here, it is a mountain where they come and breed them every year. The puffins were very friendly and didn’t seem scared of us so you could get close to photograph. It was very crowded but that is to expect from such a great sight all in all a 10/10 definitely recommend

We were lucky to see them! You climb stairs on the small hill and see puffins on the right and on the left. They are not afraid of people around, but loud noises. Adorable birds birds make cute sounds, walking around, flying, jumping, sliding, hiding in “caves” and do their bird things. In two places you can find information board with QR code and ask for donation to support puffin protection and studies. Next to the hill you can find boat excursions and cafe with coffee, soup, local beer, some souvenirs and small photo exhibition.

The most accessible place in Iceland to get up close and personal with my dearly beloved Puffins. There are other places within striking distance of Central Europe, but this one isn't bad. The rock is accessed by trails and a shelter. It can get crowded in peak season at rush hour. Just come at off-peak times and enjoy - it's definitely worth the detour! (Just in case: As long as the lovely critters are around; between May and August. Otherwise fjord landscape. Also nice - just without puffins).

Never in the world will you find so many birds in such a small place. Not afraid of people who come to observe them on a daily basis. You may approach them as close as half a meter and they are not afraid at all. We came in late July and some juveniles are still learning to fly and have not had their coloured beak yet. A thrilling experience. A must go. Furthermore parking is free and the campground in the nearby village is a nice place to halt.

Dé perfecte plek om puffins te bekijken. Je ziet er honderden!
Neem de tijd om ze heen en weer te zien vliegen, dan zul je er een aantal zien met vis in hun bek. Super gaaf om te zien. Als je puffins wil spotten moet je hier in de zomermaanden heen als ze broeden!
