Reasonably priced hotel/guest house.
You have to check in using a code received online.
At the time we arrived at around 18:00 the front door was not locked and after dinner it was unlocked either.
Clean rooms of reasonably good size. Facilities (shower and bathrooms) are down the corridor, we did not experience any queues, but I doubt the hotel was full at the time we were there.
Our room had good harbour view. No TV.
The hall downstairs used to be a bar and reception area. It is now left as the reception which it open for guests with reasonably comfortable chairs, but the ambiance is not really friendly, so people do not really use it and it feels deserted.
The breakfast was pretty basic, but OK.
The staff comes only for the breakfast and for cleaning.
The staff was very friendly but did not really speak any English as they are not from Iceland either.
Free parking in front of the hotel.
The best place for a dinner, I believe, is right opposite the hotel

Il s’agit d’un hôtel fantôme. Aucune réception, aucun code transmis à la réservation. Lorsque vous arrivez sur place, il n’y a personne. Vous n’avez aucun moyen d’accéder à votre chambre sans ce fameux code qui est censé vous avoir été transmis par sms et si vous essayez de joindre l’établissement, le numéro sonne occupé (+354 487 1212) ou est erroné (celui qu’ils vous transmettent à la réservation : +354 87 1212). En plus, lorsque l’hôtel vous transmet la confirmation, il vous met la pression sur les horaires d’enregistrement, de 16:00 à 21:00. Au-delà, l’accès est dit impossible. Nous sommes arrivés avec ma famille (4 personnes) à 19:30. N’arrivant pas à les joindre, je leur ai transmis un mail, auquel ils ont répondu une heure plus tard, sans aucune réponse à mes questions, sans code, sans numéro de chambre. A 21:00, ils n’avaient pas répondu à ma 3ème relance écrite. Il est 23:13 et j’attends toujours. Ce type d’établissement devrait être radié ! Notez qu’il répond sous plusieurs autres noms : North Star Olafsvik Hotel, North Star Olafsvik Guesthouse, Welcome apartments, ou encore North Star Guesthouse Snæfellsnes. Le restaurant en face m’a confirmé voir chaque jour des personnes dans notre situation. Je vous le déconseille vraiment au risque de perdre votre temps et votre argent !

This place is not worth the price you pay.
- Did not receive email with code like they say. They had a hard time finding the reservation when I called. No front desk or staff on site besides during breakfast.
- Room smells musty
- Shower experience is terrible as others describe. No hot water, just semi warm. Water goes absolutely everywhere. The hand soap smells like a chemical cleaner.
- The curtains come in 3 pieces for 1 window. They do not fully cover the window and do not block out any light.
- The free breakfast is super limited. The deli meat in the refrigerated case looks old. There is no bread or butter.
- Mattress is very lumpy and uncomfortable
- Red patio tile floor in shower and room feels dirty
Not sure why the price is so high for such bare minimal essentials. Would never stay here again.

Questo albergo molto moderno richiede una certa dose di autonomia ed indipendenza da parte degli ospiti : quando si arriva dovreste aver ricevuto una mail con numero di stanza e codice di accesso alla porta della stessa per entrare in quanto la reception è sempre aperta e voi dovrete aprirvi solo la stanza. Purtroppo nella nostra mail c’era solo il codice ma non il numero della camera quindi abbiamo dovuto telefonare dal locale all’entrata dice c’era un telefono oltre alle istruzioni per l’accesso …..un po’ troppo self service per i miei gusti. Comunque superato l’ostacolo la camera all’ultimo piano risulta veramente piccola e bisogna fare attenzione a non sbattere la testa sugli abbassamenti , inoltre non c’è un armadio. Sul piano ci sono due bagni perché le doppie non hanno bagno in camera , solo le triple. Ho assegnato tre come voto per la pulizia della struttura ma è un giudizio generoso che deriva dal fatto che nonostante la prima colazione non fosse citata come compresa ci siamo seduti e l’abbiano fatta senza poi dover pagare alcun sovrapprezzo.

Estancia de 2019:
De nuevo nos encontramos con otro hostal en un marco envidiable, pero con falta de atención.
En este caso, ni siquiera tiene recepción, solamente un teléfono al que llamar si tienes alguna duda o hay algún problema...
Te envían un mail con tu número de habitación y un código que la abre.
Como digo el lugar es precioso, el pueblo en sí lo es, os lo recomiendo, nuestra habitación además con vistas a la cascada.
La habitación, muy bien, con armario, lavabo interno (aunque perdía), camas bien también, la única pega, era la moqueta, no muy depurada de limpieza.
Tampoco estaban muy finos los baños, con algún desperfecto también.
Por otro lado el hostal es un laberinto si quieres usar sus escaleras, al final te obliga a usar el ascensor que hace un ruido infernal poco fiable, : S
Tratándose de un pueblo en una zona poco visitada, no hay apenas ruido de "vecinos".
Sin embargo, el wifi no va muy bien...
En cuanto al desayuno, normalito, no tan variado como en otros sitios, aunque los trabajadores muy amables, no obstante, el café, el peor que hemos tomado en Islandia, hehe, pero bueno, nada grave.
Por cierto, tiene zona común con mesas, pero no tiene cocina en sí, solo un microondas.
En definitiva, no está mal, y el marco es increíble, pero podría estar mejor sin demasiado esfuerzo.

Etwas steriles Hotel ohne Rezeption und sichtbares Personal. Zimmercode bekommt man per Telefon. Zimmer sind spartanisch ausgestattet. Sanitäranlagen sauber und modern. Großes Frühstücksbuffet.
Wir sind vor einem Sturm geflüchtet, hat alles gepasst.
