I was traveling last year and needed immediate surgery due to a perforated ulcer. Had to spend a week in the hospital afterward because of my terrible condition. It’s been more than a year, and I don’t remember your names, but I do remember your care and your faces. I’m eternally grateful to the surgeons and the nurses that I’m still alive and kicking even after everything that I had to go through.

I couldn’t eat anything for 3 days after the surgery, but when I was finally able to get my first meal, it was absolutely delicious.

It was the worst period in my life, but you somehow managed to make it more bearable. I wish I could go back, not as a patient but as a guest, and tell you how grateful I am. Thanks for saving my life.

I was a tourist from Australia and slipped on ice during a Northern Lights tour. I broke 2 bones in my wrist and dislocated it. The staff in A&E were so kind and super efficient with me, particularly nurse Berglind.
I felt so safe in their hands so when they said that I would also require surgery to insert a plate & rod to hold the bones in place, I only wanted them to do it, not the UK where I was heading next, and not back in Australia. But I only had 4 days left.
Amazingly, the hospital rang within 2 days and said they could fit me in for the operation. All the staff were so kind in the Orthopaedic department, surgery went ahead & well and I was able to continue my holiday knowing that I had received the best treatment for me and I just then needed time to recover.

Strictly went to ER since we were getting ready to board a 10 day cruise with my ankle since I wasn't sure if I sprained or broke it going down the Keriò crater. Sat in ER room for nearly 1.5 hrs before I saw a doctor. I got concerned that we'd miss the boarding of our cruise. Hubby spoke up, Dr. Anna examined me and gave me the good news that it was just sprained (thank Gawd). Both, Dr Anna and nurse Jena were very nice. It took about an entirety of 5 hrs.

I was a tourist from the USA visiting Iceland when I had an accident and broke my ankle on February 28, 2017. I was taken by ambulance to the Landspitali hospital and was treated for a broken tibia and fibula. I was concerned being in a foreign country; however, everything turned out for the best and I would like to thank the staff of the hospital for the thorough and prompt treatment of my injury. The staff was very attentive, spoke perfect English and explained the situation throughout the process. My foot was reset and a soft cast was put on to enable me to travel home the next day. Upon visiting my surgeon in Florida, USA, he was very complimentary of the work done by the folks in Iceland. He said the reduction of the ankle was very well done, the cast was done perfectly and we all appreciated the CD with the X-rays and the medical report provided. All in all I felt very good about the treatment in Iceland and felt it was as good as if I was in my home country. Thanks to the staff that treated me so well. I have now had my surgery and am on the road to a full recovery. My only suggestion, and it has nothing to do with the hospital, would be for the city of Reykjavik to do a better job of cleaning the streets after a major storm so as to avoid such injuries in the future.
