A WONDERFUL experience.
To begin with, even though the museum is "closed" in winter time, you can email them and they'll arrange for you to visit!
The curator lady, Aldis, is VERY knowledgeable. I consider myself a real Fischer-enthusiast and truth be told, I do know a lot about this unmatched chess genius. And yet, I learned A LOT from Aldis! She literally gave myself and my wife a full lecture on Fischer's life, especially as related to the "Match of the Century", ie the Fischer-Spassky match of 1972, Reykjavik, Iceland
There Is a replica of the table, chairs, board and pieces, in the main hall 9f the small museum. There are tons of photographs, newspaper and journal clippings, artifacts, memorabilia,... etc.
There's even a little gift shop!
Bobby's grave is less than 1 kilometer away.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Aldis was great telling all of the information known, and the story of Bobby Fischer in Iceland, and afterward. Very nice little place. Tournaments on Thursdays, 730pm, I think. Also home to a chess club, and a nice little chess library. Entrance is in the back, NorthEast corner, it's upstairs. Well worth the 1000kr for a visit.

An hour outside of Reykjavik, a must see for any chess fan. Great little place off the beaten path but well worth the drive. He is buried at a church nearby if you want to make the trip complete.

Lucky to be in Sellfoss, Iceland to visit the Bobby Fischer Center and its history of the chess champion's life which brought him to spend the last part of his life as a citizen of Iceland. Also visited his grave and thought about the fantastic film 'Bobby Fischer Against the World' edited by my dear college friend Karen Schmeer who is missed by we who knew her. Do watch the film and visit the Bobby Fischer Center next time you come to Sellfoss.
